Brandteliers, a branding agency, was approached by Vakkaru Maldives, a 5-star luxury resort, to develop a unique brand story and identity for their food and beverage outlets, spa, and kids club. The resort is located in a secluded tropical island resort in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Baa Atoll, known for its timeless ocean views and white sandy beaches.
Brandteliers understood the target audience of Vakkaru Maldives: guests who wanted to reconnect with nature and enjoy moments of mindfulness with family and loved ones. Thus, the agency developed a brand story and identity called "A Timeless Sanctuary" to reflect the brand's positioning platform.
Brandteliers developed the naming, brand identity, and look and feel for Vakkaru Maldives' seven outlets: Coconut Club, Cabana, Lagon Bar, Merana, Parrotfish Club, Amaany, Isoletta, Onu, and the Vakkaru Reserve. The visual identity of the brand remained earthy and humble, reflecting the simple infinite horizon of Maldivian serenity, and it had a contemporary eternal simple line supergraphic that alluded to timeliness and geographical undertones.
The successful official launch of the resort was welcomed by media and celebrity guests, with features in magazines, such as Forbes, Telegraph, Hello, Arabian Industry, and Hotelier Middle East. Vakkaru Maldives was recognized as a Favorite Romantic Getaway for International Hotels by Condé Nast Traveler Middle East Readers’ Choice Awards and won Hideaways magazine’s Newcomer of the Year award. With its distinctive story and positioning, Vakkaru Maldives has become an addition to Global Hotel Alliance’s (GHA) award-winning DISCOVERY loyalty program under the curated “Ultratravel Collection” that features a premium brand of exceptional hotels and resorts from around the world.
